Pepper Rabbit - You can’t get this at McDonald’s
California has been hitting the right indie notes with yet another sleeping gem. Signed to Kanine Records, (joining Surfer’s Blood and Grizzly Bear) Pepper Rabbit are touring their mellow-rock sound all across the US and Canada. With a little help from a McDonald’s commercial, PR are enjoying some exposure from the fast food giant. Honestly, the song Older Brother is an odd pick for a commercial as the song’s tone couldn’t be more melancholy and basically would be fit for thoughts of suicide. That is probably reason to love the commercial even more as Morgan Spurlock’s 2004 film Super Size Me underscored the health effects of of McD’s menu. They did tour with The Rural Alberta Advantage and I had to miss the show in Montreal. And when they played POP Montreal this past summer they were not on my ‘to do list’.
